Delaware County Public Health is offering a free QPR suicide prevention training in a couple weeks.
QPR is a training that focuses on three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide – question, persuade and refer.
The training instructor, Ryan Nesbit, is the co-director of Alive and Running Iowa and has done nearly 350 suicide prevention trainings. Ryan will share his own stories of suicide, loss, and suicidal intention. Plan for an interactive learning session, lasting nearly two hours. This training will be a combination of presentation, question and answers, and discussion points.
The QPR suicide prevention training is set for Thursday, August 11th at 7:30 am in the Veterans Education Center on the third floor of Regional Medical Center. Anyone ages 12 and up are welcome.
If you would like to take part in this training, you can register by contacting Delaware County Public Health Supervisor Krystle DeShaw. You can do so by either calling 563-927-7551 or email [email protected] or [email protected].
