Driver Leads Authorities on High-Speed Chase in Hopkinton

A driver led authorities on a high-speed chase through Hopkinton on Tuesday night.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says they started receiving complaints about an erratic and reckless driver around 9 pm. Two deputies tracked down the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop – speeding excessively through town, running multiple stop signs and squealing and screeching the vehicle’s tires.

The Sheriff’s Office says after the vehicle was finally stopped, the driver shows signs of being impaired by drugs. His license had also been revoked in July for failing an OWI test.

The driver, 52-year old Eric Anderson of Ottumwa, was arrested and faces several charges, including eluding, reckless driving and possessing drug paraphernalia.
