Central Community School in Elkader Honored by Secretary of State

Central Community School in Elkader received a special honor from Iowa’s Secretary of State on Tuesday.

Elkader Central was one of about thirty schools that registered at least 90-percent of their eligible students to vote last year. Secretary Pate presented the school with the Carrie Chapman Catt Award during a ceremony in his State Capitol office.

Pate launched this year’s program on Tuesday, which coincided with National Voter Registration Day. He says he hopes to see even more students registering to vote this school year and is encouraging every school in Iowa to step up.

Schools interested in being considered for the Carrie Chapman Catt Award and receiving information and resources about how to conduct a voter registration should visit inspire2vote.org/iasignup.
