Clayton County Road Closing to Traffic Until Fall

A Clayton County road will be closed to traffic for several months, starting next week.

The Iowa DOT says crews will be working on a bridge deck replacement project on a U.S. 18 bridge less than a mile west of the east junction with U.S. 52 in Clayton County. The project will require the DOT to close that roadway to traffic beginning next Wednesday, March 1st.

During the project, traffic will be routed onto a marked detour route using Clayton County roads X-28 and B-60, Iowa 13, and U.S. 52.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.

The road will be closed until early fall, weather permitting.
