KMCH SPORTS: North Linn Girls Basketball Wins Second State Championship

The North Linn Lynx played in the final game of the 2023-24 High School Girls Basketball season on Saturday night. They won their 25th game in a row with a 67-51 win over Newell-Fonda in the Class 1A Championship, the first title in Class 1A for the Lynx, 2nd overall in its 3rd championship game appearance since 2015 . The contest featured three lead changes, no ties and lasted 57 minutes. The Lynx were led by seniors Kamryn Kurt and Macy Boge who scored 23 and 17 points respectively. Boge was named all-tournament team captain for her efforts all week and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by her sister Molly and Kurt. The Lynx say goodbye to 5 seniors – Macy Boge, Kamryn Kurt, Meghan Wheatley, Skylar Benesh and Aubrey Wade.

The other State Champions in Girls hoops from Friday and Saturday:

5A – Johnston over West Des Moines Dowling Catholic.

4A – Clear Creek-Amana from the WaMaC Conference beat Waverly-Shell Rock for their first title ever.

3A – Solon pulled off the upset of Estherville-Lincoln Central to win their first crown in 26 years.

2A – Dike-New Hartford held on to avoid the upset to Panorama and won their 4th title in a row to become only the 2nd team ever to win four straight.
