The Delaware County Swine Weigh-In was held on Saturday, March 9th at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Manchester.
In total, 297 head of swine were tagged and identified for the Swine Show at the 2024 Delaware County Fair. There were 82 4-H and FFA members identifying swine with 18 of them being new to the swine project area this year! Swine numbers have increased this year compared to last year. In 2023, the total head of swine at weigh-in was 283 by 83 exhibitors. Exhibitors now have just over 100 days until the fair, where they will showcase their finished swine projects.
The 2024 Delaware County Fair is set for July 8th through July 14th. The Swine Show will be on Friday, July 12th starting at 8 a.m. Exhibitors who identified swine will have the choice to exhibit their swine in either the Breeding Gilt, Derby, or Market classes at the Swine Show. Swine showmanship for junior, intermediate, and senior members will also be judged at the fair.
A reminder to all 4-H members who brought swine to the weigh-in to enter your swine weigh-in data in 4honline by May 15th. County staff will verify and/or correct animal identification information after members have entered their swine data.
