Delaware County Fair – Wednesday Recap/Thursday Preview

It’s already Day Four of the Delaware County Fair and a country superstar will be there tonight to entertain the crowd for the country night concert. Fair Manager Jeannie Domeyer says they’re thrilled to welcome in Martina McBride – and there are still some track seats available.

As Jeannie mentioned, a fair royalty reunion will be part of the fair’s 150th anniversary celebration tonight. Brittney Carroll says they’ll be introducing former fair royalty – many in their sashes and crowns – at 6 pm on the Festival Stage.

New fair royalty will also be crowned tonight, taking over for Fair Queen Madalynn Burke, Fair King Alex Zumbach and Fair Princess Abby Demmer. Demmer says it’s been an incredible honor to represent the fair she loves.

This year’s queen candidates are Elli Gudenkauf, Georgie Hilby, Myla Loecke, Kolbey Steffensmeier, Chloe Thein, Aleah Vaske, Gracie Weeks and Brooke Wilson. This year’s candidate for fair king is Justin Grawe. Tonight’s crowning will take place prior to the concert on the main stage.

Also going on at the fair today, the Hot Air Balloon Lift-off this morning, with the Hot Air Balloon Glow again tonight. The Salsa Contest is tonight at 6:30 pm for anyone wanting to enter your best salsa – be sure to join them for a “tasting contest”. And the 4-H/FFA Market Beef and Heifer Show will be going on all day and 4-H/FFA Working Exhibits are this afternoon in the pavilion.

The show ring yesterday was filled with dairy cows for the 4-H/FFA Dairy Show was held throughout the day. It was the final time showing for several graduating 4-H and FFA members, including Amanda Engelken.

Engelken ended her last show by sharing the Outstanding Dairy Exhibitor title with her good friend, Cole Kruse.

Kruse has been showing dairy with his family since he was a little kid.

As he left the ring, he says it’s the people he’ll miss the most.
